Beyond Education: Community-Centered Projects
We collaborate with local government to meet urgent community needs, including:
- Building efficient eco-toilets for families with unsafe latrines.
- Constructing and repairing new homes for families whose houses were collapsing.
- Mentoring & training young single mothers, equipping them with skills for self-sufficiency.
- Installing new roofs, water catchment systems, providing livestock and kitchen gardens for widows and single mothers.
- Designing & building eco-cookstoves for smoke-free, safer cooking.
- Paying “Mutuelle de de Santé”, also known as Community-Based Health Insurance (CBHI) for families in need.
- Partnering on district construction projects to improve housing conditions in Nyamasheke District.

RWANDA RISING
Rwanda Rising is a Canadian initiative dedicated to fundraising for ACSD. Donations are processed through Transform International (TI), a registered Canadian charity, allowing donors to receive tax-deductible receipts.
Through this three-way partnership, Rwanda Rising raises funds, TI channels them to ACSD via a formal grant program, and ACSD implements impactful projects in Rwanda. This approach ensures that the maximum amount of funds reaches ACSD, minimizes administrative fees, and delivers the best outcomes for our programs and beneficiaries.
ROTARY INTERNATIONAL
Rotary Club of Oak Bay in Canada plays a vital role in supporting ACSD’s mission by contributing $5,000–$6,000 CAD annually toward critical community development projects in Rwanda.
These contributions are often matched by Rotary International, doubling their impact and enabling ACSD to achieve even greater results for the communities it serves.
